Where can I see trip insurance options and how can I add one to my reservation?

Travel insurance helps protect your travel investment, your belongings and most importantly – yourself! In cooperation with Arch RoamRight, Backroads offers a comprehensive travel insurance plan at a competitive price to help protect your travel investment. A Flexible Cancellation Plan is also available as an upgrade, which offers peace of mind in uncertain times. Learn more about our options here. 

Adding the Arch RoamRight Travel Protection and Flexible Cancellation plans online is easy. First, make sure that the address and date of birth are complete for all guests traveling with you on your reservation (this is required prior to purchasing insurance). See here for completing Guest Information online.  

Once you’ve added guest details, return to My Trip Checklist and click Travel Protection. This will bring up a list of all guests traveling on your reservation. From here, click the plus sign (+) next to each guest for whom you wish to add or decline trip insurance. You’ll see options to accept the Arch Travel Protection Plan and the Backroads Flexible Cancellation Upgrade. There is also an option to decline both. Make sure to hit Save!  

Proceed with your selections for all guests traveling on your reservation.  

If you’d like to cancel your previously selected Travel Protection Plan within the 14-day cancellation window, select Edit next to the traveler’s name and change your option to Decline. Do not protect my trip. A pop-up will then appear prompting you to cancel your plan and issue a refund.
