Itinerary
Days 1-2
Set off into the heart of Mallorca’s hilly interior, crisscrossed with drystone walls—one of mankind’s oldest building methods—and dotted with olive and almond trees • Refuel at a countryside finca (farmhouse) • Summit 2,694-foot Alaró for spectacular views of the range’s puigs, or peaks • Explore the ruins of a 10th-century castle, a 17th-century oratory and both Roman and prehistoric sites • Relax come evening with tapas, guitar songs and a sampling of olive oils.
Nights 1-2
Views abound from this splendid estate tucked deep in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains among courtyards and gardens. (pool, spa).
Days 3-4
Epic hikes ahead! First, a forested hike into the Tramuntana and Refugi de Tossals Verds (the Green Hills Refuge), with an eye to the sky for raptors • Next on to the gem-bright waters of the Cúber reservoir, where lunch is served with a sightline to Mallorca’s tallest peak, 4,711-foot Major • Ramble down Barranc de Biniaraix, a dramatic canyon that passes waterfalls and terraced farmland • Breathe in the scents of orange and pine trees and salty sea air from the Port of Sóller to the Cap Gros lighthouse.
Nights 3-4
Ideally located in the heart of quaint Sóller, Alcázar sets the scene for relaxation with orange trees, sunny spaces and elegant, modern rooms. (pool)
Days 5-6
A vintage tram takes us from Sóller’s plaza to the sea, where a private Zodiac offers a spectacular offshore tour south to Port des Canonge • Coastal walking continues down to Banyalbufar and its stone houses, stair-stepped slopes and waterfront • Finish with a morning of forest bathing, Spanish-style, amid olive trees followed by a swim in the Mediterranean.
Night 5
Panoramic views of both mountains and the sea are two treasures of a stay at Maristel, perched in a peaceful coastal hamlet where you can get a taste of local life. (pool, spa)
