Itinerary
Days 1-2
Kastelruth, an inviting South Tyrolean village, is the perfect place to begin our hiking excursion • Trek above town to ancient castle ruins and walk along the pastures and forests blanketing the Seiser Alm • Ascend through flower-strewn alpine meadows and marvel at the impressive peaks of the Schlern range • Sip vino at a wine tasting in our elegant mountain abode.
Nights 1-2
Stay in a mountain oasis—this outstanding alpine retreat boasts spectacular views, top-notch amenities, traditional sleek South Tyrolean furnishings and sits beside a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. (pool, spa)
Days 3-4
Hike toward the twin peaks of Sasso Piatto and Sasso Lungo • Pause for lunch at a traditional rifugio and savor the crisp mountain air • Descend into a picture-perfect dolomiti ski town, Selva Gardena • Be welcomed at another beautifully designed hotel • Learn about Ladin culture and customs • Rejuvenate at the spa or shop and explore town • A lovely evening under the stars awaits.

Our hikes through this captivating and rugged terrain climb rocky and sometimes uneven paths. Some routes are remote and most do not intersect with roads accessible by Backroads vans. Ample trail support in the form of water, snacks and encouragement is provided by your Backroads leaders and local guides, and we'll make use of the extensive network of mountain huts for provisions, meals and shelter.
While COMO Alpina Dolomites offers outstanding service and amenities, please note that it is not equipped with air-conditioning. Despite the region's generally temperate climate and cool nights, guestrooms can occasionally become warm during peak temperatures.
