Access to the Best Rides

This trip is unique in that we stay right in the heart of two stunning (and bustling) cities—Stockholm and Copenhagen. To access the very best biking routes, we'll often bypass busy roads and traffic by starting and ending our bike rides with strategic shuttles via bus, van, boat and train. Between these two cities, we stay at casual Trosa Stadshotell & Spa in the seaside town of Trosa, Sweden, where tranquil countryside riding is right at our doorstep.

Comments about Sweden to Denmark Bike Tour:

This Summer 2016 trip exceeded my expectations. It was our first Backroads adventure. It won't be our last. I am so grateful for this wonderful getaway. I appreciate the hard work that goes in to making the trip run so smoothly. Our leaders were fabulous. They anticipated our needs and focused on ensuring the group had the best vacation possible. Everything was top-notch - the rides, the hotels, the food, the leaders. Just booked our next Backroads trip for Summer 2017!

One of my most favorite vacations of all time. Loved the diversity of the various transportation modes employed on this trip... It was planes, trains, automobiles, buses, boats and, of course, bikes. Great sights, great lodging and really great guides.

Comments about Sweden to Denmark Bike Tour:

I really enjoyed myself on this trip. For me, even though I have not been biking very long, it meant a lot to me to even do 18-25 miles a day, and to be active. It was also nice to have little breaks along the way, including the van rides and the ferries. The more avid riders were able to get their mileage as well.

Comments about Sweden to Denmark Bike Tour:

This trip brought three generations of family and friends together to cycle, dine, wine and make new friends. There were new sights, sounds and fragrances every day to feed all our senses. The variety in accommodation, ranging from dignified luxury to elegant bohemian was surprising and delightful. I do not know how Backroads keeps finding such intriguing and positive guides and such great routes. You keep outdoing yourselves and we keep coming back. Thanks Backroads!

Why Travel with Backroads in Sweden and Denmark

See Copenhagen from the Inside

To fully appreciate Denmark's famous capital, with its rich and nuanced history, you need someone who can share its pleasures from an insiders' perspective. That's what you'll get from our old friend Christian, who shares fascinating glimpses of the past alongside the latest cultural hotspots as you explore this beautiful city of canals.

Everyone at Their Own Pace

We design and support our Sweden and Denmark trips to suit mixed abilities and varied interests—so you can set your own pace, then change things up as the day unfolds. And all guests are free to do the same, traveling together or apart, with no one cramping anyone else's style. Which sounds easy in theory, but it's hard to pull off. Here's more on how we do it.

More Leaders to Support You

On our Sweden and Denmark trips we have an extra leader supporting you along the road—for a total of three, compared to the industry standard two. So we can be in more places at once, giving personal attention to guests traveling at their own pace. Here's more on our Trip Leaders.

A Second Van When You Need It

Backroads is the only active travel company providing two support vans in Sweden and Denmark—because we know it's essential to ensure a truly great travel experience. It doubles our ability to be there when you need us to offer hydration, lighten your load or give you a lift if it's time to take a break. Read more on why two vans make all the difference.

The Best Leaders in Sweden and Denmark

Backroads has the best-qualified people to lead your trip in Sweden and Denmark, and our guests back that up, rating our Trip Leaders an average of 9.75 out of 10 for all-around quality of performance. Get the facts (and no fluff) on how we recruit and develop the very best people for your trip.

Great Bikes Included (or Upgrade)

Choose a Backroads Custom Titanium or Custom Electric Assist bike—both are included in your trip price. Maybe a Specialized carbon-fiber pro model is more your speed or go for double fun on a tandem. Our fleet is the best in active travel, so you don't have to roll the dice on this vital trip component. Learn why our titanium bikes are ideal for most riders. See the bike options for this trip.

Signature Backroads Picnics

Guests rave about our picnic spreads. Enjoy a welcome break in a scenic spot, or a quick refuel stop if you don't want to lose momentum. And because we have two vans, one can host lunch while the other is out providing support along the route.

In Europe Since 1988

Backroads has been welcoming active travelers to Europe since before the Berlin Wall came down. Today it's virtually our second home. We know the perfect roads and trails, the most scenic valleys and hilltop towns, the hidden churches and gem-like museums, the up-and-coming vintners and celebrated chefs—and, of course, all the best places to stay.

We've Set the Standard

For nearly four decades we've worked to earn and maintain our right to call Backroads the world's #1 active travel company. In pursuing that vision on behalf of our guests, we believe we've set the standard for our industry—captured in the Backroads Quality Guide, which clearly sets out the benchmarks of excellence, choice and support that we live by

Navigate Your Way in Sweden and Denmark

Your ride comes equipped with a Garmin Edge Explore 1000, the best bike-touring GPS device on the market. This is a Backroads exclusive, and it's included with your bike in Sweden and Denmark. If you prefer to bring your own device, we also have downloadable GPS files and of course, our good old paper directions are always available. Read more on why our navigation options are the best.

Quality You Can Measure

Since 1979, Backroads Founder and President Tom Hale has shown that staying #1 means constantly evaluating our performance using the best possible source of information: our guests. As we systematically analyze your feedback on our trip consultants, leaders, hotels, meals and on-trip activities, we never stop working to make a great company even better.
