A Dream on Two Wheels

Submitted June 2025

By Lynn

From Chicago

Biking through the Netherlands and Belgium with Backroads was nothing short of extraordinary—an adventure that perfectly blended scenic beauty, rich culture, lots of good treats, and cycling-friendly charm. We were led by friendly, knowledgeable, and fun guides along flat, meticulously maintained bike paths that crisscrossed tulip fields, quaint villages, and picturesque canals. Dutch infrastructure is famously bike-centric, and it shows—every detail is designed with cyclists in mind. Moving into Belgium, Bruges, with its fairy-tale architecture, winding canals, and rich medieval history, was a definite highlight.

Wonderful first experience with Backroads!

Guides and support staff make a huge impact on a tour. All was going very well until guide M completely forgot me on our last evening and I missed the surprise horse-drawn carriages experience. I was very disappointed with how he handled it, most importantly. But overall, a great experience.

This trip checked all the boxes for us! We enjoyed biking through incredible locations with a great group of people and fantastic guides. The accommodations and food were first rate and the guides and support team went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience for everyone. We appreciated having a mix of time on our own and with the group. Also loved learning about the history, culture and people of the places we visited. Backroads does such a great job connecting guests with locals too!

Perfect trip for first-time Backroads bikers!

Submitted October 2024

By Kim

From Charlotte, NC

This was our 7th Backroads trip (biking and multi-adventure) and because of the flat terrain and the excellent paved bike path system, we would highly recommend it to those who are on the fence about a bike trip. Most of the others in our group were first-timers and everyone loved it! For more experienced bikers, this trip still had all the things that make for a phenomenal Backroads experience: exceptional leaders, group chemistry, lovely accommodations, and beautiful scenery. One of our favorites!!!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Best Backroads Trip Ever!

Submitted August 2024

By Regina

From Nashville, TN

The Netherlands and Brussels tour was the best Backroads trip we have ever taken. The guides were wonderful, lodgings were beautiful, and the number of guests (eleven) was small enough that we could really get to know each other well. I appreciated the use of local taxis from time to time so we were not always crammed into a single van for some of the transfers. The small towns and scenery was really interesting, and the distances we could cycle on the bike paths was impressive. The guides were well educated about the regions we were cycling through, and shared a lot of history as we cycled along. I can highly recommend this tour with Backroads.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
