Itinerary
Days 1-2
Hike through the dramatic stone passage of Smugglers’ Notch to Sterling Pond, one of Vermont’s highest alpine trout ponds • Continue to Elephant’s Head for sweeping views across the Green Mountains • Traverse the exposed ridgeline of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest peak, where rare alpine tundra clings to the summit • Follow sections of the famed Long Trail past Taft Lodge and descend by gondola or on foot to our mountainside retreat • Explore the cafés, breweries and village charm of nearby Stowe.
Nights 1-2

Climb Mount Moosilauke, one of New Hampshire’s famed 4,000-foot peaks, where sweeping views stretch across the White Mountains from Franconia Ridge to the Sandwich Range • Travel the scenic Kancamagus Highway, one of New England’s most celebrated fall foliage drives • Hike deep into White Mountain National Forest past waterfalls, beaver ponds and the Appalachian Mountain Club’s historic Zealand Falls Hut • Continue to the quieter reaches of the backcountry on routes leading toward Zeacliff Pond and Mount Zealand • Ride the historic Mount Washington Cog Railway to the “Top of New England,” where alpine scenery and dramatic weather have drawn adventurers since the 19th century.
