Days 1-2
Walk a beloved local trail overlooking Norway’s island-dotted coast • Visit the Atlantic Sea Park, where seals, otters and penguins bring the marine world to life • Hike through the dramatic Sunnmøre Alps, where peaks rise straight from the fjords and panoramic views stretch in every direction • Kids step into the past at an open-air museum with Viking boats and hands-on exhibits • Settle into a stylish waterfront hotel in the heart of Ålesund.
Nights 1-2

Day 3
Ride one of Norway’s most scenic fjord routes along Hjørundfjord, framed by snowcapped peaks and mirror-still waters • Cruise by private boat to a remote hamlet for a farm-fresh lunch in a storybook setting • Kids try their hand at traditional Viking games • End your day in a peaceful waterfront village and savor locally sourced Nordic cuisine.
Night 3
Set on the edge of Hjørundfjord, this tranquil retreat features comfortable rooms, mountain and water views and a peaceful outdoor hot tub perfect for post-adventure relaxation.
Days 4-6
Bike through the breathtaking Norangsdalen Valley, passing waterfalls, alpine lakes and historic mountain farms • Speed into Geirangerfjord by RIB boat and see towering cliffs and cascading falls from the perspective of the water • Ride one of the world’s steepest cable cars to the summit of Mount Hoven • Take in sweeping views of Nordfjord, glacial valleys and snowy peaks • Pedal into serene Lodalen Valley, often called Geirangerfjord’s quieter twin, where turquoise waters and lush slopes make for a peaceful morning • Relax at our fjordside hotel, where an expansive pool and family-friendly atmosphere make it a joy to unwind together after a day outdoors.

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
The remote hotels on this trip offer proximity to our favorite hikes and fantastic views. Guest rooms are clean and comfortable but simpler than the typical Backroads standard. Also, due to the remote locations of our properties, dinners on this trip tend to be a set or limited-choice menu. Dietary restrictions can be honored, but options for special dietary requests are limited.
The combination of Norway’s many waterfalls, steep mountains, vibrant green landscapes, warm ocean currents and deep fjords makes this country unlike any other. Norway’s climate can be as surprising as its terrain, with weather patterns and microclimates that may bring sun, wind, fog, sleet and rain in the same day (or hour!). Or it could rain all day, every day. Please be sure to bring warm layers and waterproof gear for each day of the trip. In addition, the fluctuating weather may result in ferry or mid-trip itinerary changes, but your Backroads leaders are always prepared to make necessary adjustments to ensure a great trip while keeping safety the top priority.
