Trip of a Lifetime w/ Backroads: Croatia to Montenegro Multi

Submitted November 2024

By Mary

From Issaquah, WA

Our experience was superb. Mia M and Nicole B, our main guides, along with Ellie, their helper, made everything fun and easy. This was a first adventure-style trip for my husband and me, and we came home ready to book again. Seriously, we plan to travel with Backroads again next October--we had such an ideal time on this trip. All the food, the gear, logistics, the scenery, the itinerary--even the weather--were so well-organized!! We enjoyed every day and every option. Our fellow travelers were great fun and interesting, too. My husband rode an e-bike and highly recommends those. I rode an e-bike and proudly did not access the extra-oomph options but was happy to know I could if I wanted to. We both felt great support and safe all along our incredible journey with Mia, Nicole, and Ellie. Backroads takes the extra steps to ensure you will have a great time and unique experiences made possible through their unique relationsjips to the region's excellent hosts. Highly recommend!

Fantastic way to see the beautiful Dalmation coast of Croati

Wonderful experience enhanced by our amazing and knowledgeable guides Landon, Ellie, and Cole. The accommodations were high end and the meals were reliably excellent. We would agree with a previous reviewer that the menus were somewhat monotonous, but the food was fresh and delicious.

Best Backroads ever !

Submitted May 2024

By Peter W

From Newport Beach CA

My wife and I just completed this trip. I had heard it was one of Backroads highest demanded trips, so my expectations were high. This trip didn't disappoint. We when in late May and we were happy with more moderate temperatures. The hiking and biking in 90 + could be a challenge. If you chose this trip I would recommend you spend and extra day or two in Split. My wife and I actually enjoyed Split more than Dubrovnik. If you spend more time in Split I would strongly recommend hiring a private tour guide to walk the old city. This has been our 6th Backroads trip and probably our best. Thanks Backroads for delivering a quality experience.

Phenomenal guides and beautiful scenery- Loved the views from the mountains, the lakes, the countryside and the beaches. Delicious food and warm and accommodating tour guides who helped to create a really comfortable environment. Ended the trip with huge feelings of satisfaction after biking through tough terrain and hiking and kayaking in the sea. A trip to remember!

A fantastic Trip to see a wonderful country actually 2

Submitted June 2023

By Joe

From Bentonville AR

Loved this backroads adventure. Challenging rides but there were options for people to ride E Bikes which allowed the whole group to stay together. Wonderful leaders who were able to adjust on the fly and divert to other activities when the weather was rough. Fun! the country is amazing and the people are very friendly. For planning, Visa and Euro's no American Express. You will get a good variety of events and destinations. Some of the places where you start your adventure each day, you will want to return to and explore on your next trip. Our only recommendation would be to find alternative restaurant's along the way to provide more variety in the food. It was all great quality and tremendous service - but the menu's were very similar. One a few occasions we would have traded Sea Bass for a Hamburger :)

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Best trip, EVER!

Submitted October 2022

By Kevin

From Pacific Palisades, CA

This was our first experience with Backroads. We have heard about the organization for years, but timing just never worked out. This was the most amazing and meaningful experience! My wife and I had the greatest time, ever, and could not imagine a better way to experience Croatia! The team leaders, the accommodations, the group and all of the wonderful activities exceeded our expectations. We will return for sure and we've already began looking for the next adventure with Backroads! Thank you for the wonderful memories! We have three kids (17, 19 and 21) and have planned family vacations for years... Now we know how our kids feel to be taken care of... accommodations planned, luggage transported, meals, transportation and activities arranged and basically everything done for us with the highest quality, care and attention to detail. We had an absolute blast!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Sounds trite but . . . Trip of a lifetime!

Biked three days, hiked two days and kayaked one day. Our first group trip - wasn't sure how much I'd like it but LOVED it. The guides were knowledgeable, great fun and really kind. Wonderful mix of activity, history and culture. And the food! You won't go hungry and every meal was excellent. It was great to have an ebike give elevations up to 3700' one day. Not a problem. I could work hard and then get a boost when needed. The Dalmatian coast is more stunning than the photos.
