We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Although Egypt is a world-renowned destination with many excellent hotels and guides, service standards and infrastructure may not always match those in more developed destinations. Be prepared for occasional inconsistencies in service, traffic delays, infrastructure limitations, smog in urban areas and persistent vendors at tourist sites. Smoking is relatively common in public places, including some indoor spaces.
To respect local customs, modest dress (covering shoulders and knees) is expected when visiting religious sites or more traditional areas.
To make the most of the wonders of Egypt, this trip has a strong focus on culture and history, which means the activity level is lower than on a typical Backroads trip. While still more active than most other ways to explore Egypt, our walks are often through or between cultural sites and our biking distances are shorter than usual.
This trip includes travel on commercial flights so that we can explore the best of your destination. Please note that flight schedules can change with little advance warning, which may require us to adjust our activities on a travel day. Your Trip Leaders will provide more details on any changes should this occur.
