Itinerary
Days 1-2
Ease into this Alpine wonderland as you pedal a riverfront path to a lunch of elevated local dishes • Test your mettle—or turbo mode—with a challenging route or hop a gondola to our rifugio hotel near a glacier at 9,000 feet • Toast the adventure to come with a welcome aperitivo and seasonally inspired dinner • Take a morning ride to the Noce River for rafting and a picnic lunch • Connect with the region’s history with a stop at a local World War I museum.
Nights 1-2
Set at the foot of the Presena Glacier, Capanna Presena is a welcoming modern take on traditional mountain rifugios. Relax into alpine-chic rooms, sip a cocktail on the panoramic terrace overlooking the glacier and revive with a dip in the sleek indoor infinity pool complete with water-to-ceiling views out onto the mountain landscape. Days 3-6
Lace up your hiking shoes and head out on an Alpine hike that mixes mountain views, scenic lifts and even a strudel break at a traditional mountain hut • Opt for a more leisurely shuttle-and-hike option with lunch at a hut or immerse yourself in the rugged wilds of Adamello Brenta Natural Park on a summit trek • Follow the Val Rendena bike path to the ancient village of Stenico • Hike mountain meadows and UNESCO landscapes in the Brenta Dolomites • Celebrate with a farewell meal at our hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.

Just a mile from the sleepy-in-summer ski resort town of Madonna di Campiglio, and ringed by forest and mountains, this family-run farmhouse-turned-luxury hotel feels just secluded enough. Cozy and elegant, it boasts some of the best views of the Brenta Dolomites group along with a standout spa that includes delights like a wave-motion pool and mountain-herb-scented sauna. (pool, spa)

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Our bike routes on this tour are a bit different than those found on a typical Backroads trip. They consist of mixed terrain, including some paved roads and bike paths, as well as unpaved roads, gravel paths and trails. Additionally, due to the mountainous character of the Dolomites region, some rides on this trip may contain short and steep ascents and descents, which can make the routes feel more challenging than the mileage suggests. To accommodate riding in this environment, we use a different fleet of bikes created specifically for cycling on variable surfaces.
While they offer outstanding service and amenities, please note that the hotels on this trip are not equipped with air-conditioning. Despite the region’s generally temperate climate and cool nights, guestrooms can become warm during peak temperatures.
