National Park Grandeur - Wildlife, Mountains & Glaciers
Alaska was made for family multi-adventures. Kayak along the coast amid volcanoes and glaciers. Hike next to an ice field for the experience of a lifetime. Bike along Turnagain Arm with views of the Chugach Mountains. Cruise Prince William Sound and search for glaciers. Move through the landscape quietly and local families may show their faces: eagles, moose, sea otters or bears! Even if they don't, you know they're there... and somehow that's enough.
Highlights
- Hike the Harding Icefield Trail, a spectacular route alongside Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park
- Discover the charms and shops of Homer, one of Alaska's most beautiful seaside towns
- Witness jaw-dropping views of Cook Inlet, the volcanoes of the Alaska Range and the tidewater glaciers of Prince William Sound
- Kayak around Yukon Island, keeping your eyes peeled for marine wildlife, including harbor seals and sea otters

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Alaska is a land of rustic and rugged beauty, and while Backroads has selected the best properties in the places we visit, simplicity and comfort outweigh elegance and luxury in this great state. Generally speaking, service in Alaska can seem slow and casual when compared with the high standards of service found on other Backroads trips. Patience, a sense of humor and appreciation for the cultural differences that abound in this population-sparse setting will help you make the most of your experience.
