Beautiful area and excellent riding routes.
As always, the trip leaders were excellent, the accommodations were excellent, and the food was great.
Fantastic trip !!!
The food, the wine, the biking, the accommodations all were just the best and the Trip Leaders were so fun and excellent at what they do. Backroads certainly lived up to its superior reputation.
This trip has everything - scenery, food, wine, activities
This is our second Backroads trip and we chose this one for the amazing Michelin Star restaurant meals as well as the variety of activities included, and it did not disappoint! The trip leaders and support staff were supportive and prepared, catered to our group's varied needs, and kept everything fun. The itinerary included a lot of interesting and historical activities such as wine tasting, visiting a cave with prehistoric art, and visiting an underground church. The hotels were beautiful and the food was outstanding.
The trip was a gas, the rides, hotels, wine and leaders
All aspects of the trip were top-notch: the meals, the wine, the refreshments with nibbles, the hotels, the luggage transfers, the bike routes and especially the leaders who were always full of beans, great senses of humour yet ensuring that everything was running smoothly and catering to the needs of each guest.

Fabulous trip for wine lovers
Great wine and dining experiences. Great pieces of history. Leaders excellent (as always). Quiet roads - nice riding.
A delicious and decadent romp through Bordeaux/Dordogne
The biking tour through the Dordogne countryside was our 5th trip with Backroads and one of our favorites. The high quality of the food and wine was only surpassed by the beauty of the vineyards and villages we traveled through. The tour sprinkled in small gems of cave drawings from 13,000 years ago, ancient Roman ruins and monolithic ancient churches a the base of St. Emillion's bell tower. We used the E-bikes as our first love is hiking over biking. The bikes were easy to use and made even a few challenging hills easy to navigate. We took this trip with my brother and sister-in-law who are avid bikers (no E-bikes for them) and they felt the tour was challenging enough for bragging rights, but not so difficult that it detracted from the other parts of the experience. And then there is the food. From the locally gathered picnic lunches to the Michelin starred dinners (note the pleural) we ate like kings from Aquitaine! The guides make every Backroads trip special and this was no exception. They ensure everyone is having the perfect (and safe) adventure.

What's not to love when biking through Bordeaux vineyards!
5 1/2 days of wonderful rides — nearly 150 miles in total — across Bordeaux, each day different, with many alternative options to enjoy yourself — easy, shorter routes or no route at all (back to the premiere accommodations and shopping). Food, first-class accommodations and bike equipment that were exceptional for me and even impressed the harder core cyclists in our group. Trip leaders, Matty, Léon and Simon were a wonderful *team,* knowledgeable about the region, fun and funny, creative. They made it all look easy, but we know they sweated the details everyday. If you're looking for a fun active vacation with so much much to see, learn and experience, I wouldn't hesitate.

Perfect! Planne and Executed to Perfection
Backroads though of everything. Great routes, super easy to follow guides, amazing food and the very best people as Group Leaders. Hotels, scenery, meals, service. Trip of a lifetime. Highly recommended
A wonderful cycling trip in the French countryside.
Our trip to Bordeaux and Dordogne was truly spectacular. We cycled through gorgeous countryside and quaint French villages, the food was fantastic, we tasted delicious wines, and the hotels were beautiful. The trip leaders were top notch; friendly, fun, helpful and wonderful people.
Awesome trip, even for rookies. Just go!!
Agree with all reviews. A great, organized, fun, interesting and invigorating trip. All three leaders were great and could not have been more helpful. We went in early June and weather was just right for us. The hotels were all fabulous and if you are into good food and delicious wines--this is the trip for you. We had never done a bike trip before this--now we feel like experts:). We had not been on a bicycle in 2-3 years, are in moderate shape and late 60's--felt with E-bikes we were not overmatched and no problem keeping up or being too overworked. Really was just the right amount of exercise to enjoy all of the great meals without guilt. Cannot recommend this trip more. We look forward to more traveling with Backroads as we already have another trip booked.
