Vive Le France 🇫🇷- History, Delicious Food and Landscapes
This trip is a nice taste of delicious local food, history and stunning scenery. The biking brought us through quaint French towns where our guides introduced us to local foods - apple cider, cheese and the Brittany butter. I have never said - "this is the best butter I have ever had in my life!" Until I had Brittany Butter. If you like history - this Backroads trip bikes through the first town that was liberated by the Allies, into the America cemetery, Normandy and Juno beach. I have read about the invasion, visiting the WW2 museum in New Orleans but to actually see the terrains and the place where the battles took place reinforces and expands your knowledge of the DDay invasion. It really is a way gain a deeper level of knowledge when you see the beaches and the Normandy Landscape. The trip to Mont Saint Michele was incredible! The guide we had to take us through the Abby was so knowledgeable and it was obvious she loved talking about its history. The rides through Brittany and Saint Malo were stunningly beautiful. The medieval town of Dinan was a gem I would have never found on my own. Not to be missed. The guides helped us experience each region by discussing history, foods and keeping us safe on our bikes. We were offered many alternatives routes or ways to enjoy different areas longer if we wished. I will travel a lot in my life and will definitely use Backroads again and recommend them to everyone.

Powerful history, combined with natural beauty
As usual, Backroads thinks of everything... And more! The D-Day sites were somber and emotional. Mont St Michel was magical. The countryside and Seaside towns were stunning and welcoming A lot of wonderful new experiences crammed into six days!

Britttany Normandy Bike tour
Outstanding trip through beautiful French countryside, along the coast, and the historic towns. The backroads leaders Lidia, Nastja, and Bo were outstanding. The professional guides at Omaha Beach and Mount Saint Michele were very knowledgable and interesting. The accommodations exceeded my expectations, We will be doing more Backroads trips in the future.

This was out first Back roads trip it was outstanding!!!
Pure joy being back on a bike like a 7 year old riding down country roads filled with farms , cows, horses and pure nature. Nothing compares to being outside experiencing travel ....Trip leaders are all outstanding . They go out of their way to take care of your needs.

Backroads has been the best value for us!
We have tried several other active touring companies, Backroads has been the best. This trip was incredibly meaningful, powerful in the history of France. The tour guides were particularly thoughtful in researching our family who may have been buried here. I appreciated that they knew this area and the level of service and attention they paid to the details was impeccable. The combination of history, memorials, celebration and accurate description of the routes and activities made this trustworthy, dependable and so fantastically enjoyable!

Amazing Cycling Tour
We had an excellent experience with Backroads. The itinerary was comprehensive and allowed flexibility to meet our needs. We loved all of the cycling routes, the scheduled tours were fantastic, we had a nice amount of free time, the accommodations at the casual hotels were very high end, and our tour guides were absolutely top notch. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience.

Above and beyond our expectations
The trip through the Normandy & Brittany area of France was way beautiful and very well organized. The leaders (Julien, Lydia and Guillaume) were beyond spectacular! The organization was like clockwork, I don't know how it was possible to keep 17 of us so on track for 6 days but they did it. The hotels were wonderful as was the food and the people. I learned more of the history, food, culture, flora and fauna than I could have imagined. I can't wait for our next Backroads trip!

Perfect family vacation!
This was my second Backroads trip and the first with my children (12 and 16). We all had an amazing time and very much miss our trip leaders and days spent biking around beautiful the coast and countryside of Brittany and Normandy. The city and beaches of St. Malo are gorgeous and the bike ride down into the village of Cancale was absolutely breathtaking. The historical sights of Normandy were educational and very moving. The village of Bayeaux was lovely and fun. Too many wonderful details to mention everything we loved! This was the healthy (give or take all the amazing cheese and desserts), super fun, and screen free vacation of our dreams!
AMAZING family trip with memories to last a lifetime
This trip to Brittany and Normandy has been the vacation of a lifetime! From the beautiful vistas of the regions to the historically significant tours, we were mesmerized with all we saw and learned. My whole family loved every biking adventure, bonding with our amazing tour leaders (Sarah, Nico, and Margaux), and meeting the fabulous other families and eating some of the best meals of our lives! From start to finish, all of our possible needs were met and attended to with kindness and consideration. My children keep thanking me for taking them on this trip and only want to know when we can do our next Backroads adventure! Thank you Backroads for the trip of a lifetime!

Wonderful Overall Experience from Beginning to End
This was our first bike trip as a family with our 2 adult children. They loved it, we loved it. Everything was 1st class. Good amount of non-biking activities, but not too much. The guides were all great. Got plenty of biking, sight-seeing, history, food, etc. Top class. This was our 6th guided bike tour and it may be # 1. HIGHLY recommend getting an E-bike - lot's of hills, some steep or long and long routes - which I liked with the E-Bike.
