We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
This trip includes the historic Emerald Lake Lodge, where guest rooms are clean and comfortable, but simpler than the typical Backroads standard. We’ve chosen this property because of its proximity to our favorite routes and the fantastic setting. Please note that the guest rooms are not equipped with televisions or air-conditioning. Also, while Cathedral Mountain Lodge and the Post Hotel & Spa are Premiere Hotels and offer outstanding service and amenities, please note they are not equipped with air-conditioning. Despite the region’s cooler mountain climate, guestrooms can occasionally become warm during peak temperatures.

I was ready to book my next Backroads adventure by Day 2
This was my first trip and I loved it! I took my daughter for her college graduation. While she was by far the youngest of the 13 women, it was a very special experience for both of us. Loved that we could choose our own adventure - the longer, more difficult routes or the shorter routes - with no pressure and support no matter which we chose. The leaders were exceptional - personable, flexible, competent, knowledgeable, and fun. Met some great women from across the U.S. Backroads has the secret sauce - from hiring talented people, to finding exceptional accommodations and stunning hikes, to figuring out all of the mechanics (moving people, vans, and supplies, coordinating with hotels, etc.) to make it all work seamlessly.

The Best Active Trip Ever
I was thrilled to have the option of an all women's trip—and this exceeded ALL my expectations. The guides were superlative and handled every detail perfectly from logistics, to providing great lunches, snacks and post hike treats, to knowing exactly when each hiker needed some encouragement and enthusiasm. The scenery was beyond beautiful, and it was wonderful to be able to choose hike duration and hike your own pace. I had the best hike of my life doing the Iceline and Highline Hike—and just knowing I hiked a mountain pass makes me smile. Backroads is truly an exceptional company, and the process was seamless start to finish. Bravo!

My first Backroads trip. Loved it!! Won't be my last!
Fun and knowledgeable leaders, wonderful accommodations and meals, and beautiful hikes.
Backroads Rocks it
Four of us had never travelled together and thought that Backroads might take some of the stress out of planning and executing a week hiking in Canada. Talk about exceeding expectations! The hikes were lovely and we saw many of the Canadian Rockies most beautiful mountains, glaciers, lakes and vistas. Our guides were experienced, knowledgeable, fun and personable - we felt safe and in such good hands the entire week. Lodging was comfortable and we ate well everywhere we stayed. Our goals were exceeded at every turn. After 6 days, we were not only still speaking ~ but already planning our 2025 Backroads adventure.

Apparently I'm a Hiker Now!!!!
Loved this trip! Started out as a novice hiker and over the course of the week became an actual outdoors person. Loved our guides—the perfect combo of competence, knowledge, enthusiasm & fun. Really enjoyed our entire tour group. Logistically it was a dream…everything went smoothly like a well oiled machine. The food was excellent & plentiful. Really enjoyed our accommodations as well—a good mix of luxury & rustic. The hiking was wonderful—every trail was unique & spectacular. I appreciated the different trail options every day (to include not hiking at all, which we chose one day, opting for some spa treatments at The Post Hotel, which was lovely).
