Itinerary
Days 1-2
Kick off your trip in the High Sierra with a bike ride on the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, featuring incredible views of no less than 15 surrounding peaks, including Mammoth Mountain and the Minarets • Walk in the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, Yosemite’s largest stand of these ancient trees • One noteworthy resident is the Grizzly Giant, with a base diameter of 30 feet! • In the mood for some R&R with the family? Head to one of the lodge’s four pools for some refreshing fun in (or out of!) the sun! • It’s parents’ night out while kids join the Kids Adventure Leader for a special dinner of their own.
Nights 1-2
A comfortable mountain resort near Yosemite’s South Gate with plentiful amenities and panoramic forest views. (pool, spa)
Days 3-6
Adults set out on a beautiful hike from Bridalveil Fall to Sentinel Beach while kids join the Kids Adventure Leader for some fun activities on the beach before everyone meets up for lunch • Enjoy a relaxing bike ride along the valley floor • Settle in at our storied family-friendly lodge • Head out on a bike ride to Rainbow Pools, a favorite locals’ spot • Lovely, serene Carlon Falls is the destination of our post-lunch hike along a scenic fork of the Tuolumne River • Play bocce or relax under the stars in the saltwater pool or the hot tub • Kids go rock climbing in Tuolumne Meadows while the grown-ups hike Mount Watkins, winding through the forest up to a stunning viewpoint of Half Dome and dramatic Tenaya Canyon • Follow a pleasant trail that climbs steadily to Lookout Point for views stretching out over Hetch Hetchy Valley.

Yosemite is a big place—that’s part of what makes it so extraordinary! To bring you to its most breathtaking sights involves a bit more shuttle time than what you may find on some other Backroads trips. But we guarantee it’s time well spent, as these shuttles are your ticket to the hidden gems and world-famous vistas that make Yosemite unforgettable.
Because of national park regulations, leaders are not allowed to offer full support for the ride in Yosemite Valley, but you’ll be supplied with maps, directions and locks for the ride, which is almost entirely on flat bike paths. Backroads leaders will provide full support on our bike rides just outside the park on Days 1 and 4.
