Chiang Mai & the Golden Triangle to Tropical Island Beaches
There’s a reason Thailand is called the “land of smiles.” Ornate temples that point to sky. Statues of Buddha sitting tall. Forests and jungles blanketing mountains. Limestone rock towers rising from the sea. Colorful markets packed with friendly faces. And delicious flavors at every turn. Exploring Thailand gives you and your family plenty to smile about.
Highlights
- Explore Thailand’s diverse landscapes and cultures, from thick forests and white-sand beaches to village communities and lively markets
- Bike with your family along flowing rivers, richly verdant hillsides and expansive rice fields to historic cities, ancient temples and international borders
- Cruise the picturesque clear waters of Phang Nga Bay in the south and the gently winding Maekok River in the north
- Indulge in Thai cuisine with a homecooked meal made by a local friend, delicious street food and a chef-guided cooking experience

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Throughout the trip we've selected hotels that, in addition to being both comfortable and authentic, allow us to provide you with an itinerary that flows naturally and with purpose, becoming a genuine travel experience and not simply a collection of sightseeing events. The Maekok River Village Resort, a Casual Hotel, is our home for one night. Although it offers simpler guest rooms than the other hotels on this trip, it is by far the nicest lodging in the area and has been selected because of it's strategic location and access to hiking and cycling routes that we otherwise would not experience.
