Activity Level: 1-2
Our Dolce Tempo activities allow you to leisurely explore local hidden gems and to get away from the crowds, experiencing the essence of your location on your own terms and at your own pace. Easier than our other trips, but still wonderfully active, itinerary options typically include 2-4 hours of walking, e-biking or other excursions per day. On e-bike routes, our custom electric-assist bikes allow you to pedal effortlessly. Your trip is fully supported with dedicated Trip Leaders, vans, meticulously selected routes and downloadable GPS files available for use on your own device.
Route notes
The walking terrain on this trip includes a mix of dirt paths and paved and gravel roads. Most of our walks take place at elevations of 4,000–7,000 feet, which can make the routes feel slightly more challenging than the mileage may suggest. The biking routes vary from level to rolling with a few steeper climbs, but our e-bikes will smooth out the hills with ease. Many sections of our rides follow car-free bike paths; the Backroads support van will intersect with these routes at strategic points. The rest of our riding is on quaint country roads shared with the occasional car, as well as some busier sections entering and leaving towns. Rest assured that you can always hop in the shuttle to skip these more trafficked sections.

We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Terrain & Shuttles
For the best riding in Switzerland, we've chosen a combination of small quiet roads and some unpaved bike paths with short stretches of limited van support. Our bikes are equipped with slightly wider tires to accommodate the path and trail surfaces. There are also some sections of urban cycling on busier roads at the end of most rides; you can always hop in the shuttle to skip these.
Air-Conditioning
While the hotels on this trip offer outstanding service and amenities, please note that they are not equipped with air-conditioning and guest rooms can occasionally become warm during peak temperatures.
