Itinerary
Days 1-2
Cycle through mossy pine forests and fields of hay in Slovenia’s broad mountain valleys • At your first sight of the perfect panorama of Lake Bled with its church-crowned island, you’ll understand why Yugoslav president Josip Tito chose it for his summer home • Settle into our grand hotel by the waterside • Hike around Lake Bohinj and traverse a soaring alp for a hearty hut lunch.
Nights 1-2
Day 3
Make a splash in the white water of the Sava River on a raft • Dig into a classic Backroads picnic in the town of Radovljica, known for its gingerbread-house architecture (and its actual homemade gingerbread!) • Journey to the coast and settle into our luxurious retreat in Portorož, Slovenia’s premiere seaside resort town • Dine on fresh-caught seafood and sample fine regional wines.

We’ve planned our itinerary to take you off the beaten path, but crowds are common in this region, particularly on the coast. Keep in mind that summer heat can make biking and hiking more challenging.
