Itinerary
Days 1-2
Hike to the top of Young Hill, where clear skies reveal stunning views of Haro Strait, Vancouver Island and the Olympic Mountains • Explore the quaint streets of Friday Harbor, lined with shops and galleries • Bike toward the coast with the whole family • Adults break away for a thrilling descent to South Beach while kids enjoy a morning of tie-dyeing and games • After a beach picnic, kayak through peaceful inlets—you might spot harbor seals or otters napping in the kelp canopies • In town, kids visit the Whale Museum and learn about the orcas and other marine mammals that frequent the local waters.

Days 3-5
Look for minke whales and majestic orcas during our wildlife-watching cruise with a local naturalist • Explore Moran State Park, a paradise of 5,000 wooded acres, 30 miles of trails, five freshwater lakes and four waterfalls • Walk with your family along sparkling Mountain Lake, the park's largest, and take a moment to relax at one of the many inlets • Ascend Mount Constitution for 360-degree views of the islands, Mount Baker and the North Cascades • On Orcas Island, hike along the cedar-lined shores of Cascade Lake and stop to take a dip if you like! • Discover the charming town of Eastsound.

You'll be on board a ferry or in a shuttle for many of the days on this trip as we island-hop like the locals do. Consider this an opportunity to view some spectacular marine scenery (and occasional wildlife!) while resting your legs in preparation for your next activity.
