Days 2-3

Description

Set off along the Island Line Trail, a former rail route with sweeping views of Lake Champlain • Cruise through Burlington’s lively waterfront and into the rolling farmland of Shelburne County • Pass scenic silos, lake vistas and classic white cottages as you make your way south • Pedal into the pastoral beauty of Addison County, a place where orchards and hayfields dot the rolling Vermont landscape • Ride along Lake Champlain’s quiet eastern shore, with Adirondack peaks rising across the water • Arrive in historic Middlebury and pause to admire Otter Creek Falls as they tumble through the town center • Pass over Pulp Mill Covered Bridge, one of the oldest covered bridges in the country • Enjoy relaxing evenings by the water at our harborside retreat.

Description

Ride through the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains, setting out from a maple farm and sugarhouses tucked among the trees • Climb into the Green Mountain National Forest on winding roads flanked by peaks and quiet woodland • Ascend Lincoln Gap, beloved by cyclists and offering stunning vistas and long stretches of forest • Cruise alongside the White River, passing through dairy farms and lovely Vermont foliage • Visit Montpelier, America’s smallest capital city, and browse its cafés, shops and galleries, perhaps purchasing some maple syrup or Vermont-made flannel to take home • Enjoy one final spin to Waterbury, taking in the crisp air and Green Mountain scenery.
