All you have to do is pedal and enjoy!!!

Submitted June 2025

By leslie

From New York

On a bike you hear the birds and the crickets all around you, you smell the fresh cut alfalfa, you breathe in the crisp, clean air, you feel the warmth of the sun, and you are amazed at the beauty of the winding backroads in old villages, through endless farmland with snow-capped mountains above you, as you coast down to vibrant seaside. Every turn is more amazing than the last.

Wonderful biking and cultural experience in Slovenian alps!

This trip was one of our favorites so far! Our leaders were fantastic and the biking routes were perfect in both the beautiful sights we got to see and the degree of difficulty. We chose e-bikes so we could do it all. We even got to paddle boat across Lake Bled, walk through quaint towns, and jump into the Adriatic Sea! The people, food, and adventure will all be remembered from this unique and enchanting place.

First Cycling Trip a Blast!

Submitted October 2024

By Jay

From San Francisco

I've done 2 Backroads hiking trips but this was my first cycling adventure. Absolutely wonderful! An E-bike (for me) made the elevations manageable but still a fun challenge in some areas. The countryside is beautiful in both Slovenia and Croatia - such a treat to enjoy far from the tourist crowds. Our leaders Zala and Ivan, and support, were outstanding taking care of every detail effortlessly. As is typical with BRs, you are joined by like-minded travelers who are friendly and fun and add another level of richness to the experience. We even joined together after the trip for a walking tour in Trieste.

Our trip was amazing...a hidden gem of the world!

Submitted October 2024

By Barb

From South Bend IN

Zala, Ted and Chris led us along roads that delivered stunning views of mountains, forests and rivers and ancient walled cities. We rode by castles and through quaint villages, stopping along the way to eat with locals who taught us about bee-keeping or olive oil making. We slept in Historical Hotels, as well as a luxurious Winery Estate and ate in Michelin Star restaurants. To make everything the best ever were guides who assisted and pampered and cared for each of us as we rode the backroads through the beauty of Slovenia and Croatia!

Slovenia nor Croatia never on our radar before this trip. It was a morable journey experiencing both countries through carefully curated biking routes, hotels, menus, and cultural venues. Above all, the best people: staff, guides, hosts, and fellow guest-travelers. Thank you, BsckRoads.

Loved experiencing Slovenia

Submitted September 2024

By margo

From Overland Park, KS

Loved experiencing Slovenia on the bike as so many locals do. One guide was from Slovenia, another from Croatia. The countries are beautiful and the ride through Triglav National Park was especially beautiful. The guides were very knowledgeable on the route, area and bikes. All were very hospitable and fun! Great trip from the rides to the cultural activities, accommodations and companionship. Do be prepared for some climbing but the views and experiences are well worth it.

Slovenia: a hidden Gem

Submitted June 2024

By Mighty M

From Katonah, NY

Both Slovenia and Croatia are beautiful, and the trip is amazing. However, I could have spent every minute in Slovenia! So beautiful with a rich history that I had never known before the trip. Our leader was fun, informative, professional, patient and a hoot! The food in both countries was over the top! The people we met were friendly and helpful, even though I didn't speak their language. This was the perfect trip in every way!

Beautiful country, great cycling and wonderful food

Submitted October 2023

By Dina

From Princeton, NJ

I just returned from the 6 day biking in Slovenia and Croatia. My first Backroads trip. It far exceeded my expectations. I went by myself so was a little nervous. The group of people on the trip were fantastic and so welcoming. Many had taken several Backroads trips so I think this is a thing. I know I plan to do one again with my kids and friends for sure. The leaders were wonderful, fun and informative. The hotels were fantastic and the food delicious and robust! Slovenia is a beautiful country and learning the history was interesting also. Ebikes are the way to go. You can go on no power if you like or use as much or as little as you need. BR provides bike, helmet, gel seat, water bottle and so many snacks and food. Also they use these wahoo navigation devices so you can bike at your own pace. If I wanted to be with the crowd, I could or if I wanted to be alone and just ride, I would also. The wahoo guides you. Plus the guides and support staff are fantastic, happy, young people out enjoying an adventure with you! I look froward to doing another BR trip again soon!
