Days 2-3

Description

Shuttle to Anacortes to catch the ferry to San Juan Island • Bike along the quiet roads on San Juan Island, the largest island in the archipelago • An easygoing route leads along the waterfront and through a forest, or you can head to Pear Point for some extra miles • Settle into our charming hotel on the waterfront • Bike past secluded bays and driftwood beaches • Enjoy a picnic at Lime Kiln State Park, considered one of the best places on the planet for land-based whale watching • Swap pedals for paddles on an optional sea-kayaking excursion near Roche Harbor and watch for otters and soaring eagles.

Days 4-6

Description

Set sail for Orcas Island, the most mountainous island of the archipelago, on a naturalist-led wildlife cruise offering the opportunity to see orcas, humpback and minke whales • Head out on a scenic spin that skirts the waterfront and weaves past farmland, rolling fields and wooded roads to remote Deer Harbor, a boater’s paradise • On foot or two wheels in Moran State Park, make your way up Mount Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans • Whether you get there by bike, shuttle or on foot, you’re treated to spectacular views of the islands, snow-covered Mount Baker, the Cascades and the Olympic Peninsula • Take a ride along Enchanted Forest Road, stopping at the oldest pottery studio in the region, where one-of-a-kind pieces are displayed among Douglas fir and western red cedar • Savor a picnic and incredible views on a ferry back to the mainland.
