Meet in Traverse City, a lively waterfront town known for its vibrant arts scene • Bike the scenic TART Trail past cherry orchards, vineyards and views of Grand Traverse Bay • Ride toward Suttons Bay and historic Leland, where Fishtown’s weathered fish shanties and harborfront ice cream shops capture the spirit of region • Cycle sections of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail through forests, farmland and lakeshore landscapes to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore • Climb the towering sands of the famous Dune Climb for sweeping views of Lake Michigan • Relax at our peaceful hotel on the Leelanau Peninsula.

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Mackinac Island is unique in that motorized vehicles (including e-bikes) are prohibited on the entire island. On the day we ride on Mackinac Island, guests with e-bikes may not ride with electric assist. Your Backroads Trip Leaders will handle battery removal and will provide route support from their bikes. The biking options on this day are relatively flat, with a cumulative elevation gain of 300 or 600 feet, depending on which option you choose.
