With nothing but good omens in sight.

What's Included

We want to make sure you're on the trip that's right for you. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Death Valley is a land of extremes. At times, weather conditions (like heat, cold, high winds, the occasional rainstorm and even snow!) may warrant unexpected changes to our itinerary. In this event, alternate activities will be planned that you’re sure to enjoy.
The Inn at Death Valley received a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2018. It is a grand historical treasure and by far the best place to stay in the Death Valley area. While its location within Death Valley National Park makes it an ideal base for exploring the valley’s many sights, it is also subject to park regulations and oversight. Similar to many national park lodges, service at the Inn at Death Valley can seem slow and casual compared to the high standards of hospitality found on other Backroads trips.

Vegan solo biker hiker and boater
As a solo vegan empty nester I was used to traveling with my kids, which I still do, I decided to venture out on my own as friends or family couldn't go when I could. Backroads did a fantastic job and allowed me to literally stop at all the signs, the occasional flower smell, admire the view, or to check out the rocks. As a first real vacation that I took solo not only did they make sure my vegan diet (I have several severe food allergies unfortunately) was accommodated for but I was never not included because I did not have a partner. So if you are fearful to travel due to diet restrictions or you don't want to feel lonely put that in your back pocket and grab a spot on your next vacation with backroads!! Great job leaders and site coordinators! It was a fantastic trip that was supported well!! Yes I used my pickleball glasses to ride my bike!!

Great Backroads Trip in Death Valley
We had such a great time in Death Valley with the Backroads group. The guides were fantastic and It was great to meet the other guests from all over the country.
Simply Fabulous
What a trip! Death Valley is simply breath-taking - one of the most, if not the most, beautiful places I have ever visited. And the trip had all of the usual features we have come to expect from Backroads - fabulous group leaders, great food, terrific equipment, wonderfully organized, and a very interesting and pleasant group of guests. Absolutely top-notch in every way.
A spectacular time in Death Valley.
Paul and Jay made Death Valley come to life. We had a lot of fun, and saw some awesome natural beauty.
My trip was awesome!
Just awesome! A quick trip with wonderful guides and a fantastic group of people! I loved the variety of terrain and the chance to try out an E Assist Bike! Sand Storm, power outage you name it our guides made everything so fun!!

Great 🔥 trip!
This was my first trip w Ith backroads. I took it my daughter & we were the youngest and the oldest on the trip. We had a fabulous time!

First COVID trip was a huge, safe success
The guides created a spectacular vacation. My only complaint is that I cannot stay longer.

Outstanding in the face of uncertainty
This was our second trip with Backroads and it did not disappoint! We were in a unique situation, given the brewing pandemic, and the team overdelivered. Excellent routes, beautiful and unique scenery, great food, a charming historic inn, and a stunning hike to close the trip. As always, the lunches were amazing and the bikes mechanically perfect. I don't know how Backroads does it, but their leaders are amazing. In the face of uncertainty, they were unflappable. This is a trip that we will not soon forget.
They think of everything and take care of it
First and foremost: the leaders were fantastic. Young, experienced, but not arrogant. Helpful in all ways. Backroads takes care of EVERYTHING: bikes, food, hotel, transportation. Just show up with your kit and off you go. Their custom ebikes are excellent. I needed a higher stem and presto! -- done. Running a bike trip in Death Valley presents Backroads with some challenges: limited routes, only 2 hotels (same ownership), tourist traffic. Backroads has designed this trip to deal well with all these limitations. Death Valley sounds intimidating, but it is incredibly lovely (in its own way), and Backroads takes advantage of the attributes of the place: stargazing, ghost towns, encouraging you to stop and listen -- to total silence in the desert. The hike on the last day is icing on the cake, taking you into the lovely and colorful hills around Furnace Creek.
Peace, tranquility and majestic beauty
The Death Valley trip is the perfect getaway from the noise and chaos of everyday life. Backroads provided the normal exceptional guest experience with professional, supportive and encouraging leaders; selected a variety of activities showcasing the awesome landscapes and panoramas; and, created a welcoming, friendly environment to enjoy a vacation with new friends.
