Itinerary
Days 1-3
Discover the ghost town of Kayaköy • Hike through a pine forest to glorious Ölüdeniz Beach, also known as the Blue Lagoon, keeping an eye out for the paragliders who flock here • Enjoy lunch aboard our private boat as we sail to Göcek, stopping for a swim in a tranquil inlet along the way • Trek along narrow walking paths into the highlands of the Kapidağ Peninsula • Examine ancient Lycian ruins on a hilltop with stunning ocean views • As you descend to stunning Cleopatra’s Bay, the partially submerged remains of a hammam allegedly used by the Egyptian queen is revealed • A lunch of Turkish mezes (shared plates) awaits onboard our gulet • Spend the afternoon on the boat swimming and sunning or opt for a coastline hike to lovely Sarsala Bay.

Days 4-6
Kayak through a protected estuary out to a remote beach • Visit the well-preserved Roman theater and remains of Lycian and Carian tombs in the Ancient City of Kaunos, a World Heritage site • Our luxurious retreat welcomes you with views of the blue-green Aegean Sea • Enjoy some downtime by the pool or a dip in the sea at our breezy resort's private waterfront • Hike with our guide up into the hills around Bodrum to the 3,000-year-old Pedasa ruins • Learn about traditional weaving techniques during a Turkish carpet demo • Hike village byways past stone walls, olive groves and friendly goats and chickens • Check out the interior of a country mosque and taste local vintages at a vineyard • Say your farewells before returning to dynamic seaside Bodrum.

Backroads luxury while traveling back in time!
This itinerary has it all! Natural beauty, rich history, culture, adventure, exercise, expert guides, and local cuisine! The Lycian coast is a treasure trove for archaeology (BC & AD), turquoise water, boutiques, hiking, and boating. Backroads has crafted an itinerary that blends them all while basing out of two beautiful hotels. The yacht days were particularly amazing!
Far exceeded my expectations!
This kind of a trip on the ancient trails of the Aegean Coast of Turkey was a dream of mine for a very long time. When I saw that BR was offering one this year, I signed up for it not sure as to what to expect. The trip truly far exceeded my expectations and when it was over, I was ready to sign up for the same trip next year. It was a perfect combination of excellent hiking (always rewarded by breath-taking views), swimming off of our private yacht (a gulet), luxurious accommodations and delicious food! The trip leaders were exceptional and more - the coordination/management always seamless and always with a friendly and caring approach. It was teuly a pleasure to have them as our tour leaders. The local guides were very good in sharing the very rich history of the area - they were all well-educated guides with a lot of expertise and experience. The cultural/historic locations/activities were very well chosen. Thank you Backroads for an amazing trip and for the priceless memories! Keep up the excellent work you are doing…
A unique itinerary, not to be missed.
The variety of activities and adventures were amazing. We hiked (of course), spent hours on a beautiful boat, swam in the sea, an afternoon at a beach, incredible food, hotels, and guides. Don't miss the Turkish Riviera!
