Activity Level: 1-3

Every Backroads trip is designed to appeal to a wide variety of interests and fitness levels. Several routes and a range of levels are offered each day so you can choose how much or how little activity you want to do. Learn more about how we determine activity levels.

Route notes

The terrain on this trip ranges from level to rolling, with occasional steep but short hills. Some sections of trails can be muddy, rocky or rooty. At times we walk on uneven coastline with large loose cobblestone rock. This terrain varies depending on tides and storm surges. If you think you'll need extra support on this type of terrain, we recommend a sturdier hiking boot with ankle support. Windy and foggy conditions along some of our routes can also make walking more challenging.

Accommodations

Nova Scotia is a land of rich heritage and rustic charm, and while Backroads has selected the best properties in the places we visit, history and character outweigh elegance and luxury in this Maritime province. Although our hotels offer simpler amenities than the typical Backroads property, they provide us with the greatest access to the best hiking in the region.
