A Sparkling Gem of a Trip
This was my eleventh Backroads trip and I would rate it easily one of the best ever. This region is somewhat undersold in the Backroads catalog, perhaps because it is slightly off the beaten track of popular tourist destinations. But make no mistake, it is a hidden gem and well worth it. From the moment you arrive at the bike meeting spot outside Munich, breathtaking scenery, idyllic lunch spots and picture perfect bike routes await your exploration. We loved the immersion isn Bavarian culture, and our trip leaders took care of every little detail. Each of the hotels were spectacular. I lost track of the number of times I said to myself "this is unbelievable."

Crazy good -- as Backroads often is
Five of us took this trip to celebrate my 70th birthday. Four of us road eBikes and still got a decent workout on the longer days and very much appreciated them on the climbs. The routes were very well thought out. The support staff were, as always, just extraordinary. As we climbed to one town for lunch, the staff learned that the power had gone out at the restaurant where we planned to eat lunch. Deep in the mountains, there was not another one nearby. But within the hour, the team procured an amazing buffet, set it up, and served it. Except for poorly-lit bathrooms, I am not sure we would have noticed the crisis. The hotels were great. Spas were invented in this part of the world, and the hotels show it. We also enjoyed very much getting to know the other guests. Altogether a great trip through an under-appreciated part of Europe that has some shockingly cool cycling.
