Backroads Hiring Event & Training Dates​

 

Hiring Events

The final step in the hiring process is to attend a group Hiring Event, if advanced. We offer in-person Hiring Events in multiple locations in the US, Canada, and Europe. In person Hiring Events are fun and engaging group interviews from 8:30am – 3:30pm including breakfast and lunch. These events are a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the Backroads culture, meet many fellow candidates and members of the hiring team, and to really get a feel for what it’s like to be a member of the Backroads community!

If you are unable to attend an in-person event, we also offer Virtual Hiring Events. These events occur from 8:30am – 11:30pm Mountain Standard Time (MST). Virtual Hiring Events are group interviews via video, and you will need to ensure you have a quiet space and a strong internet connection for the interview.​

Please note: We prioritize hiring candidates who attend in-person Hiring Events. If unable to attend an in-person event, we offer virtual options later in the hiring season.  Attending an earlier hiring event increases an applicant’s chance of employment and we may not run virtual events if we’ve met our hiring needs. If both options are feasible for you, we encourage attending an in-person event. Also, they’re just more fun!​ 

*While we offer separate events for Trip Leader and Trip Prep Specialist positions, we may offer both positions to candidates who attend any Hiring Event

 

Backroads Training Programs

If offered a position after the hiring event, new Field Staff start their Backroads journey by attending one of our two-week Training Programs. We offer two distinct “Training Seasons” for new Field Staff: Spring and Summer. Those who attend Training in the Spring will inherently have a longer season (typically May/June through October/November). Those that attend training in the Summer have a shorter season (July/August through October/November).

Spring Training attendees must have full availability for Backroads during our busiest months of June & September.

We ask candidates to select a “Training Season Preference” on their application. While we’ll do out best to accommodate your preference, it may not always be possible due to business needs. We have more positions to offer in our Summer Training programs.

 

 

The cost of travel to the Backroads Leadership Training Program and In-Person Hiring events are paid by you; however, all further work-related travel is paid by Backroads, including flights to all the various regions of the world where you may be scheduled to work. During this training program, housing will be provided for you and you'll be compensated for your time. These Hiring and Training Events are subject to change based on hiring needs, therefore, we recommend that attendees purchase refundable airfare.
