Dolce Tempo: What to Expect

Our easygoing Multi-Adventure tours make adventuring a breeze—perfect for beginners or occasional bikers/hikers, or anyone who is interested in exploring the world actively. With dedicated Trip Leaders, support vans and GPS-supported routes, the day is yours to decide. Find an unbeatable blend of walking and biking routes (2-4 hours of activity, 10-30 miles of biking, 2-7 miles of walking) with other fun-filled activities such as kayaking, rafting, snorkeling, cultural activities and more. On trips with biking, custom electric-assist bikes allow you to pedal effortlessly!

Route notes

The San Juan Islands' landscape is characterized by constant rises and valleys. Some sections of chip-sealed pavement may feel a bit rougher than riding on traditional asphalt roads.

*Prefer to pedal without power? Regular road bikes are available by request, ask your Trip Consultant.

Straight talk

We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.

Ferry Transfers

To bring you to our favorite parts of the San Juan Islands and the Olympic Peninsula, we make liberal use of ferry transfers on this trip.  You'll be on board a ferry for many of the days on this trip as we island-hop like the locals do. Consider this an opportunity to view some spectacular marine scenery (and occasional wildlife!) while resting your legs in preparation for your next activity.
