Iconic Lakes, Peaks & Glaciers in the Canadian Rockies
Breathtaking. It's an interesting word. Being humbled by the land is a different kind of "breath taking." Rafting on a glacier-fed river. Hiking a slot canyon. Biking among crystalline lakes. Elk. Bighorn sheep. It's the difference between "taking it in" and "diving in." Some vacations are about catching your breath. This one's about losing it.
Highlights
- Discover natural and historic treasures by bike, foot and boat through Banff and Jasper National Parks
- Walk on the massive Athabasca Glacier's icy lunar landscape alongside our informative mountain guides
- Hike gorgeous alpine trails in the lovely Bow Falls and the Valley of Five Lakes
- Navigate the glacier-fed rapids of the Athabasca River in a Class II float and take in majestic mountain scenery from the water

Backroads Exceeded Our Expectations
Backroads gave our family a perfect vacation. The landscapes in the Canadian Rockies exceeded the marketing description of "breathtaking" in their beauty. The Backroads approach took away all of the challenges of planning our activities and of worrying about what to do next. We focused on being together and experiencing the sites, hikes, swims, bike rides and rapids. Our trip leaders were competent, genuine and fun to be around, and they made everyone feel comfortable participating at their own pace and level of challenge. Their styles created a great dynamic among all of the families on our trip. We are ready to select our next Backroads vacation.

Excellent excursion for family and nature
From biking to hiking, rafting and the glacier walk, this trip was amazing! You'll definitely want to train in preparation of the rolling biking hills and backcountry hiking terrain but it's completley worth it. The week was extremely well supported. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinners were plentiful and the guides were amazing ~ I was never concerned for safety. Room accomodations were good. The sites we visited were breathtaking. Highly recommend and look forward to our next Backroads excursion!

Fantastic Trip
The Canadian Rockies beauty was unbelievable. The hikes and bike rides to the lakes, mountains, glaciers and to the town of Jasper were fantastic. We saw mama black bears with cubs, a grizzly, moose and elk. Our trip leaders (Emily, Oliver, Tarryn) did an awesome job making sure we all had a super time while teaching us along the way about the animals and wilderness. We plan to return to the Canadian Rockies for more adventures !

WOW! Loved it!
One of the best vacations of our lives. The tour guides (Brian & Jeroen) were truly extraordinary, and this trip exceeded expectations on just about every level. Well, I guess we didn't lose any weight due to the awesome food and desserts :). We'd highly recommend this tour to anyone that found the itinerary appealing. The rides, the sights, the hotels, it all worked!
