Check out those giant deer... Wait—they're elk? What makes the lake so blue? Doesn't even look like real water. There's a bald eagle in that tree. Just saw a marmot, too. I think I see that mountain we hiked on yesterday. We're going rafting tomorrow, and then rock climbing, right? That waterfall is the tallest thing I've ever seen! This family adventure in the Canadian Rockies is the best vacation ever.

Activity Level: 1-3

Every Backroads trip is designed to appeal to a wide variety of interests and fitness levels. Several routes and a range of levels are offered each day so you can choose how much or how little activity you want to do. Learn more about how we determine activity levels.

Route notes

Most activities on this trip take place at elevations of 3,000–6,000 feet, which can make the routes feel more challenging than the mileage may suggest. The hiking terrain on this trip includes rugged mountain trails and well-maintained paths, with some rocky sections and steep descents. The biking routes on this trip are on narrow roads with narrow shoulders with some traffic, but speed limits are reduced in the national parks.

Note that if your child doesn't meet age or other requirements to participate in an activity, one parent must opt out of that activity to remain with the child.
