Excellent biking trip with fantastic support!

Submitted July 2024

By Jenifer

From Cary, NC

This was our first BR trip and we really didn't know what to expect. We were really impressed with every aspect of this trip. The guides were fantastic - friendly, kind, knowledgeable, helpful, etc. The food was REALLY good - I gasped when a large whole lobster was placed in front of me at lunch - I knew lobster was for lunch but I expected a lobster roll! The lodging was lovely and we always felt welcomed by the proprietors. The best aspect of the trip was the support provided so we could bike 40 - 50 miles a day which was outside of our comfort zone. We are "older" riders and appreciate that Backroads exists so we can have challenging active travel experiences.

Like summer camp for grown-ups

Submitted July 2024

By Sarah

From Portland, ME

My husband and I, both in our 60s, were amazed at the level of support that we received from the team leaders. They labeled our bikes, water bottles and helmets. They told us what to expect. They planned fantastic routes with varied and gorgeous scenery. And they gave us delicious food and snacks every day. We loved our e-bikes, which allowed us to take on distances and hills that would have been overwhelming for us without the flexible electric assist. The itinerary was a perfect way to see a lot of spectacular scenery. We learned a new activity we can do as a couple. We also enjoyed making friends with the other people in our group. Overall, a fun adventure where someone else takes care of all the logistics.

Nova Scotia June 2024 biking trip

Submitted June 2024

By LB

From Columbus, OH

The bikes, routes, food, guides and service were EXCEPTIONAL. Despite rainy days, we had a great experience. Coburn, Caitlyn and Kenzi were really attentive, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. E-bikes make the trip accessible to a wide range of riders. Aside from cycling, we enjoyed the Lunenburg walking tour, boat ride and the private dining experiences.

An Unforgettable Backroads Cycling Adventure

Submitted June 2024

By sheryl

From Nova Scotia

We recently embarked on a Backroads cycling trip, and it was great fun. With 11 new friends by our sides, we pedaled through rolling hills, indulged in lobster and an abundance of fresh seafood, and experienced moments that will forever be etched in my memory. The scenery was a feast for the eyes, with picturesque landscapes of vineyards and coastline Each day brought new wonders as we crossed the Atlantic, taking in the beauty of the countryside. Despite the occasional heat and rain, our spirits remained high, fueled by laughter and camaraderie. Our remarkable leaders deserve special mention. Their expertise, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm made the journey seamless and enjoyable. They effortlessly handled all logistics, allowing us to focus on the pure joy of cycling and exploring. Their passion for the region was evident, and they shared captivating stories and local insights that enriched our experience. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the bonds formed with my fellow cyclists. Starting as strangers, we quickly became a tight-knit group, sharing stories, laughter, and the thrill of adventure. The sense of community and friendship was palpable, making every moment more special. From the rolling hills to the delightful seafood feasts, from the vineyards to an iconic British phone booth, this Backroads cycling trip was a perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and connection. It was an unforgettable journey that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a unique and enriching travel experience.

Each day was different, very well organized, and challenging - Nova Scotia has lots of "gently rolling hills." The scenery was beautiful and the food was terrific. Our leaders couldn't have been better.
