Guest Photo Contest Terms and Conditions
Limit 25 photos per guest per trip. Should Backroads choose to use a photo in a print publication, video, email, digital or print advertisement or on our website (excluding the voting page for the photo contest or on our social media channels), $250 in Backroads trip credit will be awarded to you (the "Photographer"). Trip credit is applicable to any future Backroads trip and has no expiration date. The Photographer will be notified of use by email after the publication has been printed or the photo posted online. Backroads retains the right to use any photo submitted at any time in the future. Once the Photographer is compensated for a photo, Backroads retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time, for no additional payment.
Contest winners are chosen annually. Submissions for the annual contest are due by December 31st. Winners will be notified typically by February 14th or shortly thereafter. Submissions arriving after December 31st will automatically be entered in the next year's contest. There are five Grand Prize winners in the contest: 1st place wins $5,000 in trip credit, 2nd place wins $4,000 in trip credit, 3rd place wins $3,000 in trip credit, 4th place wins $2,000 in trip credit and 5th place wins $1,000 in trip credit. Trip credit is automatically applied to the winner's account and is redeemable immediately. Trip credit is applicable to any Backroads trip and has no expiration date. Backroads retains the right to use any photo submitted at any time in the future. Once the Photographer is compensated for a winning photo, Backroads retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time, for no additional payment.
Photographic submissions must be in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format. Please provide only the original, unmodified digital camera image. Backroads will consider no submission that it identifies as obscene, provocative or otherwise containing objectionable content, nor will we consider submissions from employees of Backroads or their families.
By submitting a photo for consideration, you warrant and represent that the photo you submit (the "Submission") is your own original work, that you alone own copyright to the Submission, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Submission. You grant to Backroads and its licensees a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to display, distribute and reproduce the Submission, in whole or in part, in any medium now existing or subsequently developed for editorial purposes without further review or participation from you. You attest that the Submission was taken on a Backroads trip. In the event recognizable people other than Backroads guests appear in the Submission, you warrant that you have permission from the model or models, authorizing publication of the Submission. If you are selected as a finalist, you also grant Backroads the right to use your name on the Backroads website, in emails and print publications.
Backroads retains full editorial control over the selection of, and the decision not to select, any particular Submission for publication.
