Croatia and Slovenia are popular tourist destinations with busy peak seasons, especially during the summer months and on national holidays. We've planned our itinerary to take you off the beaten path, but crowds are common in this region, particularly on the coast. Keep in mind that summer heat can make hiking more challenging.
Kempinski Palace Portoro is a Premiere Hotel. While it offers outstanding service and amenities, please note that it is not equipped with air-conditioning and guest rooms can occasionally become warm during peak temperatures.
To bring you to our favorite parts of these incredible regions, we make liberal use of shuttles on this trip. So although you'll see the inside of the Backroads van for an hour or so on most days, consider it an opportunity to view some spectacular scenery while resting your legs in preparation for your next hike.
