Straight talk

We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.

Easygoing Adventure

This is a Level 1-2 trip, meaning the activities are easygoing and designed to allow us to take it slow and soak up the beauty of the region. Each day we embark on an active adventure, but the amount of time on the trails is less than the typical Backroads trip. We think hiking, kayaking and snorkeling combined with plenty of downtime to relax, explore and take advantage of the hotels is the ideal way to experience Mexico's Baja Peninsula.

Developing Country

The people and places you'll visit on this active adventure in Baja California will stay with you for a long time, calling you back again and again to this stunning peninsula. But keep in mind that Mexico is still considered a developing country and travel here isn't always easy. Still, the warmth of the people, the culture and spectacular landscape and wildlife shine through, making for a fun and memorable experience.

Panga Boats

On Day 2 we spend several hours seeking out wildlife in the Sea of Cortez, using “panga” boats that are basic but efficient, made to easily maneuver the water in a variety of conditions. The pangas do not have bathrooms on boardour drivers will set up a rustic toilet with privacy tent on the beach where we have lunch between our activities.

We often shuttle to access a variety of fun activities and local highlights. The Trip Leaders will be able to help you determine which shuttles you can opt out of if you are more inclined to stay at the hotel and reconvene with the group after a day of relaxation.
