Backroads Policies: Cancellations & Refunds

Because we adhere very strictly to our cancellation policy, Backroads highly recommends that your clients purchase a travel protection plan. You may sell the insurance recommended by your agency or purchase a plan through Backroads (which is commissionable). Please urge your clients to buy trip cancellation insurance. Canceling for medical and other reasons is simple and stress-free for everyone if they're insured.

If your clients must cancel their reservation, cancellation fees apply.

Book with Confidence: Your clients' trip will run even for one or two people (or a family of three or four) for just $500 more per guest.† And if just one more guest signs up, we will refund the $500.

If your clients prefer the company of more guests, they can choose to transfer to any trip and we're happy to extend a $300 credit per guest.

We'll contact you well in advance and give you the option.

† Applies to scheduled trips. Does not apply to Ocean & River Cruises, Peru Trekking and possibly other Special Departures. The following trips need 5 guests to run: Camping, Two-Night, Asia, Latin America, Caribbean, New Zealand, Amalfi Coast Premiere, Canadian Rockies Heli-Hiking, Dalmatian Coast, Israel, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket, Yellowstone & Tetons Snow Adventure and trips with Internal Air. We reserve the right to cancel departures in cases of force majeure or the failure of third parties—such as hotels, ships or campgrounds—to honor their reservations, in which case all payments received to date will be refunded, which constitutes full settlement. Backroads is not responsible for expenses that are incurred in preparation for any canceled trips, such as airline tickets, or for costs that are incurred due to travel delays, flight cancellations or illness. In the event that you choose to stay on a smaller trip, if you book outside of 125 days, your final payment and additional $500 will be due at 125 days before departure and Special Departure cancellation fees will apply.
