Consider the most compelling characters you know. They all have one thing in common. Something's going on beneath the surface. That's Yellowstone. Below ground, the temperature rises and reveals itself in spectacular ways. Geysers launch water to incredible heights. Hot springs hiss and display radiant colors. A diversity of animals, such as bison, elk, grizzlies and even gray wolves, are as attracted to this unique place as we are. Yellowstone is the character that draws us all in. And it's only half of this trip. Imagine what the Tetons are like.
We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Accommodations & Service StandardsJackson Lake Lodge, Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Old Faithful Inn are fairly rustic national park lodges that reflect the natural surroundings of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. While these historic hotels offer simpler accommodations than the typical Backroads property, they are the only game in town - and have been selected because of their access to the best hiking in the region. Although clean and comfortable, the guest rooms are basic and are not equipped with televisions or air-conditioning.
Generally speaking, service can seem slow and brusque in the national parks when compared with the high standards of service found on other Backroads trips.
Interpretive Guides & Hiking Without Your LeadersThe National Park Service limits the size of all groups and Grand Teton National Park doesn't permit guided hiking. Accordingly, in Yellowstone National Park you'll hike in small groups with Backroads leaders. In Grand Teton National Park you'll hike without Backroads leaders or local guides. Your leaders will provide pre-walk briefings, maps and directions. We appreciate your cooperation with the park's regulations

Guest Trip Reviews
Beyond my expectations. Not one tiny complaint. Everything was perfection. I have never experienced such a wonderful vacation. Since everything was so well organized, we were able to see and do much more than if we were on our own. The hikes chosen were amazingly beautiful. The guides were FANTASTIC!- Schenectady, NY
The experience I had on this trip exceeded my own high expectations. There was not a single glitch in the entire itinerary, and I felt that everything was high quality. You are very good at anticipating guests' needs and questions, and being ready to address them.- New York, NY
This was our first Backroads trip and we were absolutely blown away by what a great time we had! Every day was a new and exciting adventure! Our leaders were the best, anticipating our every need. It felt like going to visit friends who want to show you all the great things the area has to offer and make you feel welcome and comfortable all the while. We can't stop talking about what a great time we had and, of course, the spectacular scenery we encountered in Yellowstone and the Tetons. This was truly one of the best vacations we've ever taken and we'll definitely see you at Backroads for another trip in the future. Thanks so much!- Southlake, TX
