Everglades to Key West Family Multisport Tour
Everglades to Key West Family Multisport Tour

Many destinations can claim to be adventurous, breathtaking and unique, but no other place can claim to be the Florida Keys. The people are as daring as the Everglades. The sea life is as breathtaking as the sunsets. And your experience of the Keys will be as unique as you want it to be. One minute you're cracking open a steaming Florida lobster, the next you're kayaking above a Spanish shipwreck. There are gators in the swamps and characters on the streets. Spas to be pampered in, wetlands to explore. Glass-bottom boats. Bike paths in the sun. Wildlife to witness. Wild stories to hear. All in the name of being adventurous, breathtaking and unique. Only in the Florida Keys.

Straight Talk
We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.

Terrain & Traffic

The Keys' narrow islands are connected by the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail, which allows us to travel through the Keys on dedicated bike paths. The paths are flat - perfect for laid-back spins and admiring the scenery - and run parallel to the highway. Please note that cars will typically be within view and you'll occasionally have to cross the main road.

Day 1 Stroll on an elevated boardwalk above wetlands in Everglades National Park - look out for alligators!  Bike into the heart of the park for an off-road view of endangered pine savannah With an interpretive guide, venture through the fascinating swamp habitat of a cypress dome and learn more about the rare flora and fauna that call this delicate ecosystem home  Travel from the Everglades to Islamorada, where sea, sand and fun await.

Days 2-3 Ever hand-fed a wild giant tarpon? Now's your chance! Enjoy shallow-water snorkeling at a protected coral reef or view this colorful undersea world from a glass-bottomed boat Maybe you'll spot the submerged remains of an early Spanish shipwreck just offshore Kayak to the small island of Indian Key, where you can explore on foot and still view the overgrown ruins of a 19th-century town.

Days 4-6 Pedal back in time - and above the open ocean - along Old Seven Mile Bridge to historic Pigeon Key Have a look around this five-acre island, perhaps visiting its museum or exploring the tidepools Snorkel in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, home to the world's third largest coral reef You might even see dolphins during the boat ride to and from the reef Spot America's smallest deer - found only in the Keys - at the Key Deer Refuge  Looking for the most classic way to end the day on the island? Join the party at the nightly Sunset Festival, brimming with street performers and local artisans.

Recommended Kids Ages

Minimum Ages:

General Info on Minimum Ages:

We strongly encourage families to join our Family Trips, designed with kid- and adult-friendly features. Please note that we have a minimum age requirement of 1 year for all Inn trips and 2 years for all Camping Trips. Other than that, we do not restrict trips to a minimum age except in the rare case of a hotel age restriction. We do, however, recommend minimum ages based on the following criteria: Please note that a trip may feature an activity with an older age requirement than the minimum age recommendation for the trip. Younger kids are still welcome on the trip and while they will not be able to participate in the activity, the leaders will suggest an alternate activity. For safety reasons, children under 7 may not ride their own bikes and are required to ride on a Piccolo or in a Burley. For certain destinations, children must be 9 or older to ride their own bikes.
