Alaska Multisport
"To the lover of pure wilderness, Alaska is one of the most wonderful countries in the world," wrote John Muir in 1879. Although the prospectors and traders of Muir’s time have been replaced by adventurers sporting cameras and binoculars, Alaska’s vibrant frontier spirit and overwhelming natural grandeur still have the power to enchant the senses. Come experience it for yourself - by bike and on foot, from the water and from the air. Marvel at the immensity of Exit Glacier. Pedal beneath snow-clad peaks and along wooded roads set in a grand landscape. Wildlife abounds on land and at sea. At night, settle down under the vast Alaskan sky and soak up the majesty of this northern territory.

Guest Trip Reviews
This was my 6th Backroads trip and I have once again come away just loving your organization! While your itineraries are awesome and the activities are fun, I have always felt that the leaders make the trip and all three of our leaders were incredible. What a great team! All three were so helpful, flexible, accommodating, service-oriented, always smiling, engaging but most importantly just fun to be around. Thanks, again!- Laguna Niguel, CA

This was a trip of a lifetime for my extended family. Having to part with our fabulous leaders was painful, and none of us wanted to say good-bye to them. Our families were pulled even closer by our week of adventures in Alaska - this trip will be talked about for years (and the stories will get better and better!). In the nine Backroads trips my husband and I have taken, this team of leaders was right up at the top. They are truly remarkable people and so much fun to be with. And Alaska itself is simply stunning - not to be missed!- Hartford, CT

I had a wonderful time with Backroads in Alaska. The leaders were organized, accommodating, and so much fun! The scenery was breathtaking, and we really got a chance to enjoy a variety of activities (biking, hiking, kayaking, rafting, etc.) in a relatively short period of time. Our leaders were so enthusiastic and positive throughout the trip. They worked tirelessly to prepare delicious (and fancy!) meals, clean dishes, set up and take down the tents, pack the vans, etc. I don't know if they ever slept! They worked very well together and had a terrific rapport. They supported each other, took turns leading the activities and staying back to cook, etc. and were always positive in their interactions and comments. This set a wonderful tone for the group. I feel very fortunate to have gotten such a great team of leaders. In addition to the amazing activities, scenery, and just being in the beautiful Alaskan outdoors, they made the trip a huge success.- New York, NY

I was supremely impressed by Backroadsthe itinerary, the leaders, the food, the organization, and the people who joined me in Alaska. I was thrilled to be a part of it and I look forward to more Backroads trips in the future. Now that I am home, I already miss the friends I made on the trip - both leaders and group members alikeand eagerly await next year's catalog to see where else I might like to go.- Arlington, VA

This was my first Backroads trip. I generally travel on my own and have had great trips...yet this was the BEST trip I have ever taken. The guides were truly the reason this experience was so absolutely wonderful and amazing, and were the reason that my mind was boggled that the trip seemed to be over before it started! I have worked in the travel industry and was delighted by the passion and professionalism of each of the team leaders - not only individually, but as a team as well. They began the trip by informing us that this was "our trip" and asked that we communicate at any and all times on anything that would make our experience better (no matter how large or small the request.) When we communicated...they provided, when challenged, they rose to the challenge. I have never witnessed this caliber of enthusiastic customer service before. Bravo to you Tom for making these individuals part of your team. Bonus, benefit...they are each AWESOME individuals and FUN as well. It was hard to say goodbye.- Flat Rock, MI
