First time experience with Backroads - exceeds expectations
Our group was composed of two families, three middle aged couples and a few single women. We were extremely compatible with one another and our two leaders, Marc and Danil, were exceptional. The trip itinerary was well conceived and active but not overly so. Our cultural experience was enhanced by educated well informed guides that took care to communicate important, using and entertaining information about the sites we visited. The hotels are luxurious and located in beautiful settings. The service at each was first rate. This was much more than a bike trip; it included hiking, cave exploration, mayan ruins, zip lining, kayaking, and snorkeling. The Backroads approach is ideal for anyone that is looking for an active travel experience but wants to decide how much to do.

Extraordinary Experience
Tikal, the ceremonial cave, everything was extraordinary. I never imagined that I would be privileged to respectfully enter the debth of a sacred cave filled with pottery shards and remains of sacrifices. I expected a fun, active vacation and experienced so much more. Blanca and Javier were of course the lynchpin and the accomodations were extraordinary.
Experience the Diversity of Latin America
A very enjoyable multi-adventure trip that explored a variety of landscapes, culture and was delightfully challenging! The guides Mahava and Cam were outstanding!
Epic adventure in Belize
Great trip with lots to do (if you wanted to)! We wandered through Mayan ruins, explored ancient caves, kayaked, discovered how chocolate is grown and made, trekked through rainforests and jungles, visited a Garífuna village and later danced to their compelling drums and singing…and more! It was a true multi adventure vacation. The leaders were fantastic facilitators and fun to be around. Add to all this, beautiful, scenic accommodations, outstanding service and excellent food and you've got an epic adventure vacation! Highly recommend it to people of all ages and abilities.
This trip was exceptional in every way!
This was our first Backroads trip and we will be back! I loved our tour guides, the level of activity, meeting a Guatemalan family, the premier lodging, the food and so much more. I am impressed with the company's ability to manage expectations and to communicate sufficiently so that I felt well prepared. There were no unpleasant surprises...only good ones! Thank you for a terrific traveling experience!

Excellent first time experience with Backroads
This was our first travel experience as a family of four adults (parents and two daughters in their 20's). Everyone enjoyed the entire trip albeit for a variety of reasons. The activity levels worked well across our age range (22 - 61) and the balance between culture, nature and sports worked well for everyone. We packed a lot in and yet felt rested and relaxed at the end. We will definitely take more Backroads trips in future.
My 5th Backroads trip, and they keep on getting better!
A perfect combination of culture, education, recreation and fun. The leaders were enthusiastic, professional and warm. Top-notch accommodations and cuisine. Another awesome experience. Have participated in previous Backroads trips in the US, Italy, Ireland, and Costa Rica. The Belize/Guatemala trip was phenomenal!

Chance to stay in comfort and luxury while viewing remote historical sites
A Great Trip for ANY age!
My parent's gave me the chance to choose *any* trip to celebrate my 30th birthday. My "wish list" was a Spanish speaking country and something with lots of activity. This one fit the bill, however I was a leery because I assumed it would be too low key with a bunch of 60+ year olds (since my parent's friends recommended it). Turns out, I could not have been more wrong. The youngest in our group was early 20s while the oldest was probably close to or already in their 80s. I was amazed at how well our group connected- 19 people of different generations, beliefs, travel styles, etc. Our two leaders were absolutely phenomenal! They were personable, knowledgable and downright fun! This was my family's first Backroad's trip, however most people in the group were on their third, fifth and even ninth Backroads trip. I can understand why people choose this company for their vacations. This itinerary was great, as we saw and did everything! We stayed an extra two days after the trip to scuba the Barrier Reef and enjoy the beach a bit longer. I recommend to stay afterwards if you have the time. Hoping to win the photo contest so we can enjoy another Backroads Trip soon!
The trip of a lifetime....
