Discover the delights of Flores, a charming island city in Guatemala's Lake Petén Itzá • Bike along the picturesque lakeshore through an ancient land once ruled by the Maya • Make yourself at home at our boutique rain forest hideaway • Make your own corn masa and coconut juice with a local family who invites us into the kitchen before serving us lunch • Walk to a secret beach where you may opt for a dip in the inviting freshwater of the lake.

Flights

On the final day of this trip we take a commercial flight on a single-prop plane from Placencia to Belize City. Guests who want to extend their time in Belize are welcome to opt out of the internal flight.

Border Crossings

This trip includes one day of longer shuttle time from Guatemala to Belize, with an international border crossing. Even with the expert facilitation of your Backroads Trip Leaders, border crossings can take time. While patience and a sense of humor are never out of place at international customs, we'll minimize the obstacles and make this border crossing just another stop on the adventure.
