Congratulations to the winners of the 2014 Photo Contest!
This year's photo contest proved that our guests are amazing photographers. The winning photos were selected from thousands of images revealing the natural splendor, cultural sights and spontaneous moments on Backroads trips.
First place is awarded to Dick Pitini from Peru Trekking Tour.
After the second night at Salkantay Lodge and the day before the challenging trek up Mt Salkantay to over 15,000 feet, we stopped at this lake for a ceremony to give thanks to Mother Earth. Our trip leader and two guests were brave enough to go into the frigid lake water. It was a beautiful day with great light and I managed to get into the right place at the right moment to get the shot. This photo was taken with a Leica M9 with a 35mm lens shot in RAW and post processed using Aperture3 and Nik Viveza2.
This picture was taken the morning after our first dinner at the Chateau de Marcay. Before taking off for biking that morning, I was walking around the property exploring, when I peaked through a French door and realized I found the restaurant where we had eaten an outstanding meal, accompanied by some awesome French wine, the evening before. As I looked through the window I saw that the table where we had shared this wonderful time together had been reset for the next lucky diners. EXPOSURE: Nikon D600, F6.3, 1/160 sec, ISO 800, Focal Length 180 mm.
Also, congratulations to Elsy Herrera, who won the $200 Patagonia gift certificate for participating in the contest voting!
We invite you to enter the Backroads Photo Contest. Good luck!
