Congratulations to the winners of the 2010 Photo Contest!

This year's photo contest proved that our guests are amazing photographers. The 3 winning photos were selected from a field of over 5,000 images revealing the natural splendor, cultural sights and spontaneous moments on Backroads trips.

First place is awarded to Jim Tyminski from Death Valley Biking.

Guest Photo Contest Winner

Photographer's Notes
Winner Jim Tyminski and his wife love doing "jump shots" on their vacations. In Death Valley they partnered with their two Backroads leaders (shown in the photo) and this was their first attempt—perfect! Amazingly, the moment was captured using a simple point and shoot Canon. Congrats Jim!

Second place goes to
Jeffrey Turi from
Vietnam & Cambodia Biking.

Photographer's Notes
The second day of Jim's trip started at the Citadel in Hue. After an hour bike ride, they took a break by a river, where he saw this young girl in a red baseball cap paddling her even younger brother in an old canoe. The scene was a unique mix of the old and the new, and truly captures the essence of modern Vietnam.

Third place goes to
Emily Weiss from
Costa Rica Multisport.

Photographer's Notes
On the final evening of the trip at the Punta Islita hotel, everyone found their own way to relax in the infinity pool overlooking the cliffs and the ocean. Some did yoga while Emily took pictures and had a piña colada at the swim up-bar.

Also, congratulations to Liam McAdams, who won the $200 Patagonia gift certificate for participating in the contest voting!

We invite you to enter the Backroads Photo Contest. Good luck!
