We provide the best bikes available, custom-designed especially for you—and included in your trip price. Your titanium bike passes through many expert hands. Founder & President Tom Hale gives each model several rigorous test rides. Our mechanics tune your designated bike before you depart. And on the trip, your leaders make sure it’s ideally adjusted and fitted to you.
Road Bike

Mountain Bike
We also have titanium mountain bikes with front suspension forks and seat post for more comfortable riding on trips where our routes include dirt and rougher paved roads. Mountain bikes are available on select trips only (please see trip pages). View full bike specifications.
Kids Bike
Backroads is the only travel company to manufacture its own line of kid’s bikes. While the wheels might be small, the performance is big and the safety superb. On all Backroads Family Trips, you'll find 20" and 24" bicycles for the younger set. They say good things come in small packages; when it comes to bikes for kids of all ages, Backroads is the expert.
Burley Piccolo
Designed for children ages 4 to 10 or up to 85 pounds, this innovative trailercycle is equipped with a six-speed twist shifter. It turns an adult bike into a type of tandem with your child providing some of the pedal power. With the Burley Piccolo, young travelers can exercise some independence while securely connected to an adult's bike.
Burley D'Lite
For children 60 pounds and under, this sturdy carrier easily attaches to our bikes and provides a comfortable ride in the spacious interior with inner pockets for snacks and drinks, an ultra-padded seat with shoulder harness and an adjustable sunscreen.

Service and ConvenienceOn the first day of your trip, your leaders show you how to ride safely and efficiently, with particular emphasis on shifting and braking. They check your bike daily and make any adjustments necessary to improve your ride. Flat tire? No problem. They’ll fix it for you. |
