Whether you're single or traveling without your partner, Singles+Solos Trips invite you to explore amazing places, enjoy a bit of a challenge and simply unwind as our Trip Leaders and behind-the-scenes experts look after everything. Best of all, you share your Backroads journey with a group of active, engaging individuals who see this experience as an opportunity to forge new friendships and at the same time learn more about themselves. Encouraged and inspired by similarly inclined travelers, you'll discover new places with a fresh perspective, and a natural camaraderie, that you wouldn't likely find traveling on your own.
Flexibility is a Backroads hallmark - and even more so on Singles+Solos Trips. You may choose to join other guests on a morning ride, then after lunch take in the incredible scenery on your own. The group may gather for a picnic or a tasting; then we'll get out of the way and point you toward the spa or a great place for a gelato. It's the same at dinner: There are evenings when you feel like lingering over wine and conversation, others when you want to check out the local nightlife or share a quiet drink at a cool bistro we can recommend. Our job is to make it all flow easily, so you can just relax and go with your mood.
When it comes to lodgings, our first priority is always to choose a place that's ideally located for exploring a region. On Singles+Solos Trips we also look for great hotels offering plenty of single rooms. If you'd like to share a room, we'll do our best to match you with another Backroads guest (same gender). And if you book early, you can get the benefit of extra savings. Just reserve more than 60 days prior to departure, indicating that you'd like to share; if we can't match you with a roommate in that time, we'll give you a single room at no extra charge*. It's one more way we work to ensure a comfortable, well-organized, hassle-free vacation. Please note that on some occasions twin rooms consist of one bed and one rollaway or foldout sleeper.
*On a few trips, twin room availability is limited; a single occupancy supplement applies if a shared twin room is not available, regardless of the number of days before departure.
A limited number of single rooms are available on most trips for a supplementary fee. Requests for single rooms are usually confirmed at the time of reservation. Sometimes, your single room request may not be confirmed until 30 days before trip departure. Single occupancy supplement prices can be found with each individual trip description. Please note that in Europe, single rooms are often smaller than double rooms.
