South Africa & Botswana Family Multisport Tour
South Africa & Botswana Family Multisport Tour

There is no other Africa trip like this. And you know it when you first hear the nearby screech of a baboon and get close enough to look a giraffe in the eye - on foot, from the seat of a bicycle, as well as from open-topped 4x4s. This Southern Africa adventure promises more than you can imagine and everything you expect: the premiere lodges, untamed landscapes and once-in-a-lifetime cycling and hiking through wild game reserves with the continent's best rangers - all connected by our private charter flights that seamlessly link dramatically distinct regions.

Days 1-2 Exclusive insight into traditional and contemporary culture from our local friends, including one who served on Robben Island with Nelson Mandela Hike along Table Mountain's base to world-renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden Bike from Cape Point to Chapman's Peak, possibly spotting ostrich, baboons, rare Cape Mountain zebras and elands  Kids partake in wire and bead work, a local township craft.

Days 3-4 Relax and rejuvenate at some of Africa's top lodges  Mountain bike and walk through Bushmans Kloof game reserve, where ancient Bushman rock art and red hartebeest embellish the scenery In the mood to taste local vintages, indulge at the spa or enjoy canoeing or archery? It's up to you!  The younger crowd becomes acquainted with their surroundings on a fun-filled nature scavenger hunt.

Day 5 Private charter flights smoothly connect diverse African landscapes  With a guide in remote Mashatu, learn to track classic African animals on a mountain bike route teeming with wildlife, including giraffes and the big cats.

Days 6-8 Bike in Botswana among elephants on their ancient paths  Open-topped Land Rovers make for great game viewing Hike the dramatic but rarely visited Great Escarpment, offering wild vistas of the bush  Browse the crafts in a charming Afrikaner pioneer town that's home to a thriving artist community Get up close and personal with pachyderms at an elephant refuge.

Days 9-11 Spot the Big Five and other fascinating creatures like dung beetles and lilac-breasted rollers at Londolozi during exhilarating bush excursions on foot and in "Landies"  Join our friend Lotus in his traditional Shangaan village.

Minimum Ages:

General Info on Minimum Ages:

We strongly encourage families to join our Family Trips, designed with kid- and adult-friendly features. Please note that we have a minimum age requirement of 1 year for all Inn trips and 2 years for all Camping trips. Other than that, we do not restrict trips to a minimum age except in the rare case of a hotel age restriction. We do, however, recommend minimum ages based on the following criteria: Please note that a trip may feature an activity with an older age requirement than the minimum age recommendation for the trip. Younger kids are still welcome on the trip and while they will not be able to participate in the activity, the leaders will suggest an alternate activity. For safety reasons, children under 7 may not ride their own bikes and are required to ride on a Piccolo or in a Burley. For certain destinations, children must be 9 or older to ride their own bikes.
