Come discover the enduring character of Nova Scotia, where unhurried locals share the area's rich past and historic tall ships grace the ports. At day's end, relax in historic inns known for their casual elegance and excellent seafood.

Days 1-2 white point

Meet in lively Halifax, settled in 1794 by the British  Ride on quiet coastal roads along ruggedly beautiful headlands and South Shore lighthouses  Walk through a dwarfed seaside forest and follow a trail that weaves through Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct, home to nesting piping plovers.

 

Days 3-4 lunenburg

Hike along an old coastal cart path and white-sand beaches from Broad Cove to Green Bay, passing tiny coves and keeping an eye out for sandpipers, gulls, ducks and geese  Enjoy views of the Lahave Islands and seal colonies  Spin to Lunenburg and discover the town's fishing port, a World Heritage site Learn about Lunenburg's German-, Swiss- and French-influenced architecture Bike the scenic Lighthouse Route past colorful boat houses, weathered docks, beautiful old sea captain's homes and sandy beaches Embark on a sea-kayaking excursion along the coast.

Days 5-6 wolfville

Shuttle to Wolfville, with its shady elm trees and manicured lawns, in the picturesque Annapolis Valley Set out on what some say is the prettiest ride in Nova Scotia, beginning with sweeping views of the Bay of Fundy and continuing along quiet country roads that hug the water, and pass farms and apple orchards Enjoy a tour, tasting and dinner at the Domaine de Grand Pré winery  Hike along a historic dike system to the Grand Pré National Historic Site, a memorial featuring a statue of Evangéline, the heroine of Longfellow's poem After touring the site, enjoy a bountiful farewell picnic.
