Amalfi Coast Hiking
From Italy's Amalfi Coast to the Isle of Capri
Vast mountains seem sketched in the sky high above rocky cliffs and a sparkling azure sea. Lemon trees burst with vivid scent and color, forming a patchwork with lush olive groves and vineyards. For centuries the Amalfi Coast has lured kings and queens, writers and artists to its sun-drenched islands and villages, and you'll soon discover why. Your daily hikes will challenge and entice the senses, as the steep terrain creates heart-pumping climbs and affords magnificent vistas. Allow yourself to be captivated by the glorious landscapes, decadent Neapolitan cuisine and local flavor along Italy's alluring coastline.

My first Backroads trip. Met and exceeded my expectations. What did I love most about this trip? Not spending much time in typical tourist spots; viewing the magnificent coastal scenery from up in the mountains looking down; challenging myself to climb to 2100 feet and back down and doing it; having daily options; having everything else arranged so I could be relieved of the decision making; learning from our leader much about what Italian life and language is like; learning from the locals guides much about the history of the region; meeting and talking with local farmers and restaurateurs that I'd never meet on a typical vacation; hiking up the Path of the Gods in time to hear a live concert played by five horn players at the top of the mountain (an almost spiritual experience); the camaraderie and support of the other vacationers in our group. I'm sure we'll look at Backroads again for our next active vacation.- San Jose, CA More about this Trip All Guest Reviews
