Massif Thrills in the Swiss Alps
Escape with us to greener pastures, where waterfalls tumble and soft-eyed cows graze. Where alpine lakes dazzle you with outrageous shades of blue and gondolas carry you within yodeling distance of glaciated peaks. And where a fine day's ride or hike brings the reward of hearty cuisine and gracious hospitality in truly spectacular surroundings. You'll even sleep in the shadow of Eiger's north face. And somehow, you won't quite believe what you see. An altitude-induced mirage? Just another moment of alpine bliss in Switzerland.
We want to make sure you're on the right trip and that you have the best experience possible. Every Backroads trip is unique and this one is no exception.
Terrain & ShuttlesFor the best riding in Switzerland, we've chosen a combination of small quiet roads and some unpaved bike paths with short stretches of limited van support. Our bikes are equipped with slightly wider tires to accommodate the paths and trail surfaces.

To make for the most comfortable ride to this particular trip, we've outfitted our titanium road bike with slightly wider tires. You'll appreciate this on those stretches of the route with hard-packed dirt (approximately 5% dirt and 95% paved).
The altitude can make hiking and biking more challenging than the mileage suggests.
