National Parks & Epicurean Delights in Patagonia

It's an incredible feeling. Everyone who comes here feels like they're the first. Arrive on the shores of the Quetrihué Peninsula and stand among arrayán trees over 300 years old. Embark on an epic journey with your family through the Seven Lakes region and be blown away by the endless beauty of riding, hiking, and kayaking through three of Argentina's national parks. You'll find yourself describing every incredible view to the person next to you because they couldn't have seen what you and your kids did. No one could have. Patagonia is your family's discovery.

Terrain, Traffic & Hiking Trail Support

The Lake District’s beautiful yet rugged topography limits the number of available roads. Although we've carefully crafted this itinerary to feature a mix of the region’s most scenic paved and dirt road-biking routes, at times we encounter small trafficked areas, as well as a few sections of dirt roads with loose rocks and sand. Of course, you’re always welcome to jump in the shuttle to avoid the busier or rougher sections of the route.

Our hikes through Patagonia’s captivating terrain follow rocky and sometimes uneven paths, many of which are remote and do not intersect with roads. Vehicles will get us to and from the trailheads, but the nature of these trails is such that we won’t see our vans along the route. Ample trail support in the form of water, snacks, and encouragement is provided by your Backroads leaders and local guides.

Leaders & Local Guides

Trips with a small number of guests may be supported by one Backroads Trip Leader and team of knowledgeable local guides. Rest assured that there will always be at least two people hiking on the trail with you.

Guest Reviews About This Trip

Where do I start? There's so much to love about this amazing family trip. Grown-ups and kids alike will be awed by the landscape—it's almost too stunning to be believed. The glittering blue lakes and pristine forests, the rugged granite spires of nearby mountains, empanada making with local chefs... wow! Parents, you'll enjoy the great regional wines and elegant, family-friendly hotels. The younger set will have fun learning how to be a gaucho and joining in craft workshops with famous artists and getting to know our welcoming local friends. I hope you'll join us!

note:

Our routes follow rolling terrain. Liberal van shuttling is incorporated into the itinerary to facilitate our activities and mileage is kept moderate to enable you to spend more time exploring on your own. The perceived level of biking difficulty is greatly increased by the rugged terrain on dirt roads and sandy sections, making routes more challenging than the mileage suggests. The level of difficulty assigned to each day's routes takes these factors into account.
